You might want to consider that so far MESS only partially emulates two documented chips from the system for full function of a single ROM at least two complex undocumented ones remain (CDIC and SLAVE). So ultimately, the answer seems to be to get a third party DVD player software package from the company's website (NOT from the Windows 10 Store - these don't seem to work unless you've done this other workaround FIRST). Even uninstalling PowerDVD did not affect my ability to play the DVDs. When the trial period ended, however, OTHER software (such as the 'Movies & TV' app that was pre-installed on Windows 10) was still able to play the commercial DVD. However, the software would only be operational for 30 days. (Both could play commercial DVDs prior to the Windows 10 upgrade, but stopped once Windows 10 was in place) Installing this softwareД®nabled me to be able to watch DVDs again. I downloaded a free trial version of Cyberlink PowerDVD and installed it on the two desktops that I was having this issue on. My solution was similar to what you did, but a slight bit different. Since switching to Windows 10, only the laptop is still capable of playing DVDs - the two desktops, even though they downloaded the Windows DVD Player app, will not recognize a single DVD that we've put into them. The laptop was using CyberLink Power DVD. The two desktops were using Windows Media Player, while All three computers were capable of playing any commercially released DVDs that we owned.

Once again, three computers all on Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit version) before the upgrade to Windows 10. Okay - now dealing with my third post upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10 issue.
